Level 2 – Developing your Self Care Skills
Level 2 lasts for 8 weeks.
The themes of the course are:
- developing the self help skills that we began to explore in Level 1
- teaching you new techniques to add to your collection of coping skills
- helping you identify what really matters to you
- identifying the changes you want to make in your life.
The topics we will be covering include:
- how mind-watching and keeping a journal can give you more control over your thoughts and feelings
- an introduction to meditation and its benefits
- a deeper exploration of imagery and how it can help you
- ways of finding out what really matters in your life so you can make more meaningful and satisfying choices about how you live your life
- letting go of resentments and conflict
- introducing spirituality and helping you find an approach that is appropriate for you.
There is more time on Level 2 for discussing and exploring your own experiences as well as getting support from the group.
The format is slightly different to Level 1. The course has a ‘teaching component’, followed by a short break. We then reconvene in smaller discussion groups, each with a group leader, to discuss the material that has been presented and to explore what it means for participants. We will close with a circle of light.
As with Level 1, there is an accompanying workbook and a CD to take home to help you practise. On Level 2, we expect that you will be actively doing some form of daily self-help practice on a regular basis, be it relaxation, meditation, thought-watching, prayer, journaling or taking some time out for something healing to you.
Details of Level 2 courses can be found on the Diary page.
